The Parliament of Galicia has approved as a resolution "to recognize and positively value the policies of the Xunta de Galicia aimed at expanding the number of potential beneficiaries of public and protected housing".
The initiative, promoted by the PPdeG, succeeded only with the support of the majority group and the rejection of all opposition parties.
The text, analyzed this Friday in the parliamentary committee, alludes "in particular" to the "reduction of maximum income thresholds to access a property and to the expansion of the reservation to 30% of public housing for sale for people between 36 and 45 years old".
The popular deputy Moisés Rodríguez, in charge of presenting the proposition, conveyed to the opposing groups that it was an "opportunity to show consensus" on housing matters.
On behalf of the PSdeG, Aitor Bouza reproached that the PP parliamentarian goes "from self-questioning" to "self-complacency", and alluded to the new state housing plan to question the position of the popular party members.
On behalf of the BNG, Saleta Chao stated that "frankly it seems like a bad taste joke" considering that it is an initiative "of self-promotion" and "falsification of reality". She also held the PP responsible for "breaking" with public housing policy since its arrival to the Xunta.
In the final reply, Moisés Rodríguez responded to the criticisms about the state plan by pointing out that "Galicia does not agree but has to accept it". "Lead or silver", or "yes or yes", he exemplified.
Initiative on climate change in the same committee
In the same committee session, another proposal from the PPdeG was approved, this time focused on the fight against climate change, which had the vote against the BNG and the abstention of the PSdeG.
Through this resolution, the Chamber urges the Xunta to develop "different awareness and sensitization actions to face climate change involving citizens in climate action, with special emphasis on younger people".
