The Popular Party, with the support of the Democracia Ourensana deputy, has pushed through an initiative this Wednesday in the Parliament of Galicia for the Chamber to condemn the "accusations" by members of the Government aimed at "questioning or discrediting" the work of justice and media professionals who investigate and report on "alleged corruption schemes linked to Pedro Sánchez's inner circle."
The non-legislative proposal, presented on Tuesday by PPdeG deputy Nicole Grueira, also demands that political responsibilities arising from the corruption cases known in recent weeks be assumed.
The approved text aims for the Galician Parliament to express its position so that the political forces supporting the Government of Spain in the different institutions "reconsider the agreements of political support and governability" signed with the central Executive, and urges the Government to put an end to the "partisan use of state public media" in the treatment of information about these alleged corruption cases.
During the debate, the PPdeG parliamentarian recalled that the PSOE came to power with the promise to "save it" and reproached that, in her opinion, the only thing it did was "destroy it," in a scenario that, she said, "corners" President Pedro Sánchez "very darkly." She spoke of a context of "corruption" with "unquestionable evidence" and criticized the BNG for remaining "blind" and "deaf."
In response, the parliamentary deputy spokesperson for the PSdeG reproached the PP for using the Chamber to give lessons in moderation and respect for democratic norms, being a "formation" that, she affirmed, "does not even respect its own statutes," for which the president of the PP of Lugo, Elena Candia, "would already have an open file" following the motion of no confidence in the city.
She then defended that the PSOE respects the fulfillment of democratic rules and the separation of the three powers of the State, something that, she stressed, "does not mean that it cannot disagree with or criticize a ruling." At this point, she recalled what happened to herself and other PSdeG officials, including the secretary xeral José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, in cases investigated by judges Pilar de Lara and Estela San José.
Lara Méndez insisted on the need to distinguish between the investigation phase and a conviction and alluded to José María Aznar to maintain that we are living in a moment when "he who can, does," which is, as she said, what the PP intends this Tuesday in the Galician Chamber with its proposal. "Because what the PP cannot stand is that the PSOE governs," she stated.
On the other hand, BNG deputy Iago Tabarés reproached the PP for bringing this initiative to Parliament when the president himself "denounces that judicial lawfare" hinders the development of wind energy in Galicia. "And the most serious thing about this is that, after that, a contentious-administrative chamber of the TSXG was dismantled, whose only crime was having hundreds of sentences with the same criteria," he pointed out, alluding to the departure of magistrate Luis Villares from said body.
Tabarés also censured that the PP demands "transparency with judicial institutions" while the Kitchen operation is being judged or documentation is being denied to the Galician Chamber, such as the memorandum signed by Sociedad Impulsa and Altri.
"You manipulate a public television that accumulates hundreds of sentences for violation of fundamental rights," the nationalist deputy stressed.
