The PSdeG has urged the Xunta to "hire, stabilize, and prioritize" centers in the emergency services of the public health system. In contrast, the PPdeG has reiterated that "the problem" lies in "the lack of professionals" and has asked the socialists to clarify "where they have the specialists hidden".
During the debate of a motion from the Socialist Group, Julio Torrado warned that emergency services are going through "a critical moment", citing the situation in Ourense as an example and recalling that the minister "did not explain the problem, but pointed out that it was there".
The PSdeG parliamentarian argued that it is "a problem of model" and criticized that the regional department is "quick and agile to cut" and "slow to increase staff when it's time".
"We want to hire, stabilize, prioritize centers, and train. This is what we propose. Let's see if it's possible for that to be the path or if, on the contrary, they tell us that we are alarmists, liars, and that the Xunta does everything well," he stated.
In the same vein, Iria Carreira (BNG) brought up the complaints of emergency coordinators and insisted that "a change" is needed through policies that "address the healthcare needs of the population".
Likewise, she asked for more emphasis on preventive and community medicine, in addition to promoting measures to "have a decisive public health system, without waiting lists to see a primary care doctor". "As long as there are no changes, we will continue to be condemned to watch daily emergency visits grow," she warned.
Lack of professionals and reproaches to the opposition
For her part, the popular deputy Encarnación Amigo reproached the opposition for "trying to make believe" that the difficulties stem from "the Xunta's inaction". "And nothing could be further from the truth," she affirmed, insisting that "the problem of emergencies is not exclusive to Galicia, it is the same as that denounced by all communities".
"Where does he have all those specialists hidden to hire? While they build narratives, the PP is dedicated to finding solutions," she remarked.
She argued that in the last two decades, emergency services "have done nothing but grow" and assured that a "reinforcement" in hiring is already being applied, in addition to there being "a pool" of volunteers to support the service.
In this scenario, he has reiterated that the "great disadvantage" is the "lack of professionals," accusing the opposition of "washing their hands" and pointing to the Minister of Health, Mónica García, in relation to the conflict over the Marco Statute.
"The narrative of abandonment does not correspond to reality. There are more doctors, more contracts are being activated, and extraordinary measures exist," he has defended.
