The Prime Minister of France, Sébastien Lecornu, reported this Sunday that one of the five French citizens evacuated from the cruise ship 'MV Hondius', where a hantavirus outbreak has been detected, has begun to show "symptoms" during the return journey from Spain.
"Five of our compatriots traveling on the 'MV Hondius', the source of the hantavirus outbreak, have been repatriated to France. One of them developed symptoms during the repatriation flight," the prime minister announced on social media.
According to Lecornu, the five passengers "have been immediately placed in strict isolation until further notice". Likewise, he has indicated that all of them "are receiving medical attention and will undergo tests and a health evaluation".
The head of the French Government has also announced that throughout this night he will sign a decree to apply "the appropriate isolation measures for close contacts and to protect the general population".
Finally, he pointed out that the Minister of Health, Stéphanie Rist, will address the public tonight to detail the steps to follow and health recommendations, according to Lecornu's message.
