The Basque Minister of Health, Alberto Martínez, on behalf of the autonomous communities that have participated in the extraordinary plenary session of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS), has assured that "today an opportunity has been lost" to channel the conflict surrounding the Framework Statute.
"We are here, all the autonomous communities united, to defend patients, professionals, and the National Health System," the minister stated at the end of the session, which concluded without consensus, alluding to the problems "generated by a Ministry of Health that has not known how to reach an agreement to reform the Framework Statute."
Martínez stressed that the joint appearance of the autonomous communities demonstrates their "willingness to work to resolve the problems that citizens are suffering," alluding to the strikes promoted by the medical community in response to their rejection of the current Framework Statute.
According to the CCAA, the absence of a pact is the "exclusive responsibility and competence" of the Ministry of Health and, in particular, of the minister Mónica García, who "again has not listened and does not have the support of professionals, unions, or autonomous communities."
