An F-4 Phantom II fighter belonging to the Hellenic Air Force crashed this Saturday during an airshow held at the Tanagra base, with neither of the two pilots on board able to eject.

The incident took place in the context of Athens Aviation Week, when the two-seater aircraft was executing demonstration maneuvers included in a very crowded show.

According to information from the newspaper Ta Nea, a spokesperson for the Hellenic Air Force has indicated that the pilots did not have time to activate the automatic ejection system, so search efforts continue, although a tragic outcome is feared.

Firefighters and medical services have immediately moved to the impact area, with no casualties reported among the public following the striking accident.
