A young Palestinian has died this Wednesday after being shot by Israeli security forces in the context of an assault carried out by settlers against the West Bank town of Jiljilya, north of Ramallah, according to Palestinian authorities.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has stated in a brief statement that the minor, Yusef Alí Yusef Kaabné, 16 years old, "has fallen martyr by occupation fire near the town of Jaljulia", while the Israeli Army has not yet offered its version of what happened.

According to data released by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the teenager was hit by Israeli forces' gunfire during an attack carried out by dozens of settlers against Jaljulia and the neighboring Abuein and Sinyil. These incidents have also resulted in four people wounded by rubber bullet impacts.

Local sources cited by the same outlet have reported that settlers broke into several houses, harassed shepherds, and stole up to 700 heads of cattle in Sinyil. Israeli authorities have not yet issued any comment on these events, which occur in a context of increased settler aggressions and security operations following the attacks of October 7, 2023.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned on Tuesday that at least 70 Palestinian minors have lost their lives and another 850 have been injured in the West Bank since January 2025 due to these operations. According to the agency, this means that, on average, at least one Palestinian child has died each week during this period.

"The boys and girls are paying an intolerable price for the escalation of militarized operations and settler attacks throughout occupied Cisjordania, including Jerusalén Este," declared UNICEF spokesperson, James Elder, who stressed that aggressions perpetrated by settlers have also reached "historic levels."
