The Government of Argentina plans to declare a holiday next Monday for the public sector if the Argentine soccer team is proclaimed champion in the final of the World Cup that takes place this Sunday in New York against the Spanish team.
The provision will only affect the national public administration, while in the private sector, it will be the companies themselves that determine whether or not to join the non-working day, according to what has been reported by the Argentine press.
The Executive is already immersed in the preparations for the celebrations to welcome the national team and accompany a possible new world championship, which would be the second consecutively.
The presidential residence, the Casa Rosada, would remain available for a possible official celebration. There, President Javier Milei would receive the players, according to the Executive's proposal, although the final decision will rest with the team and the coaching staff, who have not confirmed their plans so far.
At the same time, the government of the city of Buenos Aires has offered to set up a stage on Avenida Del Libertador for the team's reception, although the Argentine Football Association (AFA) has not yet defined the route of the possible parade.
Authorities have emphasized that the priority will be to protect the safety of the soccer players and avoid the problems that occurred during the celebrations of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, when the parade had to be interrupted due to the massive influx of people.
