The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia has reported this Monday the signing of a new cooperation framework with the United States, endowed with more than 17 million euros, aimed at reinforcing actions against drug trafficking and organized crime networks.
"Bolivia and the United States have signed a Letter of Agreement that will allow channeling up to 20 million dollars (about 17.3 million euros) in technical cooperation, training, and equipment to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime," the ministry announced on social networks.
For now, US authorities have not officially commented on this understanding. The announcement comes after, at the beginning of the month, the 'Shield of the Americas' coalition -- a security initiative promoted by the Administration of Donald Trump -- expressed its support for the Executive of Rodrigo Paz in Bolivia, alluding to alleged "dirty money coming from drug trafficking and transnational crime" that would be behind the financing of protests and road blockades against Paz.
