The Bolivian authorities have sent more than 200 police agents to the municipality of San Matías and to the border area with Brazil, in response to an escalation of violence that has left nine people murdered in less than a week, including a lieutenant of the Police.
The sub-commander of the Police in Santa Cruz, Juan Carlos Rebollo, confirmed this Tuesday, in statements broadcast by the Unitel network, that a contingent of more than 200 officers arrived in the locality on Monday night and is already deployed on the ground, carrying out tracking tasks, searches, and preventive controls.
This police reinforcement occurs after nine people have lost their lives in the department of Santa Cruz in less than seven days, in the context of a wave of violence that the authorities of Bolivia link to the dispute for control of the area between two Brazilian criminal organizations: Comando Vermelho and Primeiro Comando de la Capital (PCC).
