The Minister of Defense of Bulgaria, Dimitar Stoyanov, announced this Tuesday that the country will interrupt the supply of weaponry to Ukraine, emphasizing that Kyiv already "has enough" and that the war "will not be resolved on the battlefield."
Stoyanov has advocated for a negotiated solution to the conflict. "It is time to sit down and negotiate," he stated at a press conference, where he detailed that, in the current state of combat on the various fronts, "no matter how much weaponry is accumulated, the only thing that will be achieved is the loss of human lives."
"It is time to seek a just peace, a just peace that must be determined by the two parties involved in the conflict," he remarked, according to information from The Sofia Globe. "Of course, the role of the European Union is extremely important," he added, although he expressed reservations about its capacity as a mediator.
"The European Union has also helped Ukraine in its efforts in this war," recalled the Bulgarian Defense Minister, a member of an Executive led by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, who, as President of Bulgaria, had previously opposed sending weapons to Ukraine and had opted for the diplomatic route.
