Chinese authorities have expressed their satisfaction this Monday for the provisional agreement reached between the United States and Iran and have underlined their "constructive" contribution to end hostilities and "restore peace in the region" of the Middle East. At the same time, they have conveyed their gratitude to Pakistan for the mediation carried out in this process.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, has expressed his confidence that the parties can sign the memorandum of understanding within the planned deadlines. "China also hopes that all parties involved will maintain their commitment to the path of peace and resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation," he stated, according to information released by the newspaper 'Global Times'.
In this regard, the Foreign Ministry representative has stressed that Beijing is "willing to collaborate" with the rest of the international community to continue "playing a constructive role in restoring peace and stability in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region as soon as possible."
Asked about China's involvement and possible solutions to the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, Lin recalled that, since the beginning of the attacks, "China has been working to achieve a ceasefire and move towards peace."
He added, "China's four-point proposal to promote peace and stability in the area reflects its consistent stance and its efforts to promote peace, end conflicts, advocate for dialogue, and build bridges over differences."
