Cuban authorities announced this Tuesday that they have reduced the size of the Cabinet and carried out a restructuring of several ministries with the aim of "modernizing" public management and "updating the labor framework".

Havana has stressed that the purpose of these decisions is to "defend the rights and duties arising from the individual legal relationship between workers and employers," according to an official statement.

These reforms aim to reduce bureaucracy and improve administrative efficiency, according to information disseminated by the Citizen Portal, which indicates that, given the complex situation the country is experiencing, adjustments are required to respond to the intensification of the "blockade imposed by the United States".

The reorganization is part of the new Organization Law, the result of a nationwide consultation process, through which "state bodies were redesigned to strengthen the application of public policies," reducing the number of ministries from 27 to 20.

"A small country, with such a complex situation, cannot have such a large structure, so much bureaucracy, which makes processes inefficient, so they require a different design," said Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
