The Houthi insurgents of Yemen claimed this Sunday that they carried out a drone attack against a refinery of the Saudi Aramco company in Jizan, a port in the southwest of Saudi Arabia near the Yemeni border, where a fire was declared.
"Yemeni forces, by the grace of God, have managed to attack the Aramco refinery in Jizan with a drone, and the impact has been precise. This attack comes in response to the Saudi enemy's incursion with their drones into the airspace of the provinces of Saada and Haya," indicated in a message published on social networks their military spokesman, Yahya Sari.
The Saudi Ministry of Energy noted that firefighting teams managed to extinguish a fire early Sunday morning at one of the facilities linked to the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jizan, and emphasized that the incident did not cause any casualties.
Later, the military spokesman for the Houthis communicated that their forces had also launched an offensive against the Yemeni port of Mocha, on the coast of the Red Sea, in the southwest of the country and under the control of the government recognized by the international community.
Sari explained on social networks that the operation, executed with a "large number" of missiles and drones, was "precise" and allowed for the destruction of military material and weaponry, in addition to causing "deaths and injuries by the dozens," although the Yemeni government has not yet provided an official figure of those affected.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have held the Houthis and their allies responsible for the rise in violence, insisting that they will respond to any new offensive and warning that any new violation will be met with military actions deemed appropriate, according to the orders of the political and military authorities of the country.
