The president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, has condemned the latest Israeli airstrikes on Beirut, carried out "with the approval" of the United States, and has warned that Tehran is considering responding with offensives against American military installations in the Middle East.
"They neither comply with the ceasefire nor believe in dialogue. The naval blockade and the breach of agreements on Lebanon show that they only understand the language of force," Qalibaf stated in a message published on social media.
The Iranian leader, a prominent figure in Tehran's negotiations, has stressed that the "blockade" imposed by Washington and "today's approval by the United States of the Zionist regime make the United States and the regime's bases and assets in the region legitimate targets." "The hand of our Armed Forces is ready, as always," he warned.
Earlier, the spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Rezaei, had promised "a forceful and painful response" to the Israeli bombing in Beirut. "These rabid dogs must be disciplined and put in their place," Rezaei declared. "Look at the sky of the occupied territories tonight," he warned, referring to historical Palestine.
Likewise, Mohamad Mojber, a member of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council, criticized that "this is the third time the enemy has set fire to the negotiation table by bombing Lebanon, while a mediator is in Iran," he pointed out, alluding to the visit to Tehran by the Pakistani Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi.
"We speak the language of force to those who break agreements. The Army of Resistance is a single body. They will certainly pay a high and painful price for this aggression, on the battlefield," he warned.
According to authorities, Israel attacked Dahiye on Sunday, the area of the southern Beirut neighborhoods considered a stronghold of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, despite the explicit commitment not to do so reached last Wednesday between the governments of Lebanon and Israel. The Israeli government maintains that this offensive is a response to a prior action by Hezbollah against Israeli territory.
