Iranian authorities have ordered the suspension of all scheduled flights in the airspace of the west of the country, the area closest to Israel, according to official media.
Flights have been suspended "until further notice" in a decision taken "in light of the current circumstances," according to information disseminated by Iranian state television, IRIB.
The spokesman for the Civil Aviation Organization, Majid Ajavan, specified that "no new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued" and that the current limitations are the same as those previously established, according to Tasnim, an agency close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
This widespread flight cancellation constitutes the first preventive measure in the face of the possibility of reciprocal attacks: both from Iran against Israel and from Israel or the United States against Iranian territory, a scenario considered plausible after the bombing carried out this Sunday by Israeli aviation on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
