Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced early Wednesday that it had carried out attacks "with missiles and drones" against the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and against several air bases located in the Middle East, as a "response" to previous actions attributed to the United States Army.
According to the statement released by the elite corps and reported by the semi-official Iranian agency Fars, "The American enemy, in a new aggression, attacked a Revolutionary Guard communications tower located south of Qeshm Island with its aerial projectiles," after which a direct retaliation would have been ordered. In the same note, the military organization adds that "in response" to said offensive, "its air base and helicopters located in a country in the region, as well as the headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet, have been attacked by missiles and drones of the Revolutionary Guard's Aerospace Force."
These actions would fit, according to Tehran's version, with the "self-defense attacks" that Washington claims to have previously carried out on the Iranian island of Qeshm, located in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, against a ground control military facility.
Following this, Iranian forces have reported a new naval missile attack directed against the ship 'El Panaya', which would be part of a retaliation for the previous attack on an Iranian oil tanker using a projectile, an incident in which the vessel's engine room would have been damaged.
The Revolutionary Guard recalled that "We had already warned that, in case of aggression, the response would be different and more severe, and we have acted accordingly. These responses should have served as a lesson," insisting again on its warning that "disrupting security in the Strait of Hormuz will have a high cost for the aggressive US Army."
On the other hand, the United States Armed Forces Central Command (CENTCOM) has refuted the Iranian claims about the alleged attacks against the Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and other American interests in the region, categorically denying that version and calling it "false."
In a message disseminated on social media, CENTCOM has assured that "All Iranian attacks against US forces have failed. US forces remain on alert and ready to defend themselves from any unjustified aggression by Iran", and has added in another publication that "none" of the projectiles launched by Iran would have reached their targets.
