Iran's Banking Coordination Council announced this Saturday that several of its systems have been the target of a "limited" cyberattack that affected four national financial entities, while emphasizing that no unauthorized access to the information of these banks has occurred.
"Technical investigation indicates that this problem was caused by a limited cyberattack on these four banks and fortunately there has been no unauthorized access to customer data and no information leak," the Council highlighted, as cited by Iranian public television, IRIB.
After detecting "suspicious signs," the technical teams of the affected entities immediately activated their prevention and defense protocols to protect the data and systems of the banks involved.
"Right now, the entire infrastructure is under the full control of experts and security and recovery operations are underway," it highlighted. As a consequence of these efforts, "temporary restrictions" have been applied to certain banking operations, for which the organization has apologized in advance to customers for any inconvenience.
