Iranian authorities announced this Monday that they have tested a novel anti-aircraft defense system by shooting down a "hostile" unmanned aerial vehicle over the Persian Gulf, which ended up falling "successfully" into "strategic waters" of the region.
"In the last few hours, the Persian Gulf space witnessed a demonstration of the defensive might of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where Iranian fighters, by presenting new systems, successfully shot down a hostile drone over the strategic waters of the Persian Gulf," they indicated, according to information collected by the Fars news agency.
The same sources added that the "Iranian fighters, who have unveiled this new system," managed the situation "successfully." "This operation, which was carried out using a system with covert capabilities, represents a clear and forceful message from Iran," the text states.
The statement emphasizes that "this is a signal so that no other stealth drone can penetrate the skies of the Persian Gulf. This action reaffirms Iran's sovereignty and total control over the airspace of the area, as well as the readiness of the Iranian forces to counter any aggression," they maintained, before stressing that "the technical and operational details of this new system remain secret for now."
