Iranian authorities have ordered the suspension of all flights scheduled at the country's airports and have decided to keep the airspace in the western zone closed, in response to the recent military escalation with Israel. The restriction will remain in effect until further notice.
The Iranian Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC) has issued a notice to aviation personnel (NOTAM) communicating the closure of western airspace and the cancellation of all air operations at Iran's airports.
Mashhad International Airport will be the only partial exception, as it will only allow the departure of flights with faithful returning from the "hajj," the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Before this decision, Iranian civil aviation had already established a no-fly zone over the west of the country in the context of the Israeli Army's attacks.
In recent days, Iran and Israel have exchanged fire following the Israeli bombing of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, recorded this Sunday, an episode that has caused the greatest escalation of the conflict since the ceasefire reached last April.
