The pro-Iranian militias known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced this Thursday that they are offering a reward of ten million dollars (8.7 million euros) in exchange for the assassination of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
"The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announces the offer of an economic reward of ten million dollars, raised thanks to donations from its loyal members and staunch supporters, which will be awarded to whoever kills the criminal Trump," they indicated in a statement disseminated by the armed group.
According to their explanation, the decision is adopted as a direct response to what they consider a "boast" by the current White House tenant for claiming responsibility for the attack in which the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Qasem Soleimani and the former head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Abu Mahdi al Muhandis died, an operation carried out in early 2020 at Baghdad International Airport.
"The most eloquent proof of the moral decline of the American administration is that the criminal Trump boasts of his betrayal and aggression by attacking the martyr leaders of victory, Commander Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al Muhandis. This blatant boasting has only increased the nobility and immortality of their pure blood, and has bequeathed to their killer nothing but eternal dishonor and shame that will pursue him and his administration as long as they live," reads the text disseminated by the pro-Iranian militias.
The statement is made public days after the visit of the Prime Minister of Iraq, Ali al Zaidi, to the White House, where he held a meeting with the US president. During that meeting, Trump personally claimed responsibility for the attack against Soleimani.
"I killed him. A very bad person was gone. Coincidentally, he was meeting at the airport and a very bad person from Iraq, who turned out to be a leader of Iraq, died in that same attack," declared the US president when referring to the military operation in the Iraqi capital.
