Once people, including several women and minors, have lost their lives this Saturday due to drowning after strong winds caused a fragile canoe in which they were traveling on the Chari River to capsize, near the town of Bousso, in the Chari-Baguirmi province (Chad), according to the news portal "Tchadinfos".
According to initial information, the occupants of the boat were returning from a ceremony held on the opposite bank of the river when a violent gale surprised them in the middle of the journey, which led to the sinking of the vessel.
Emergency services have managed to recover the bodies of the victims, while the authorities of the Loug-Chari department have already opened an official investigation to clarify the causes and the development of this event precisely.
