The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, has stated that his country welcomes "with satisfaction" the provisional peace agreement announced and confirmed this Sunday by the United States and Iran. At the same time, he has urged "all parties" involved to face the upcoming rounds of dialogue with a "positive" and "constructive" attitude with the aim of "consolidating it".
"We welcome the agreement reached on the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran," the Qatari leader stated in a message disseminated on social media, in which he asked that "all parties participate in the upcoming negotiations with a positive and constructive spirit that helps consolidate this progress and continue to build upon it."
In this context, the Qatari head of government expressed his "gratitude" to Pakistan, whose Prime Minister in Islamabad, Shebhaz Sharif, plays the role of principal mediator in the talks aimed at achieving peace, as well as to "all regional and international parties" that have facilitated this understanding between Washington and Tehran.
"We reaffirm that the State of Qatar will continue to be a strong supporter of these efforts and of all initiatives aimed at strengthening security and stability at the regional and international level through dialogue and by peaceful means," the Qatari official stressed.
This Sunday, a delegation from Qatar arrived in Tehran representing one of the most relevant international mediators in the conflict facing Iran, the United States, and Israel. Their presence in the Islamic Republic was confirmed by the semi-official Iranian agency Tasnim, linked to the Revolutionary Guard, which explained that the objective of the visit was to "review the latest developments related to the diplomatic process" and "consult with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
According to the same Iranian agency, said delegation has already left the country after approximately 17 hours of "intense negotiations" that have culminated in the announcement of an agreement between Washington and Tehran, the signing of which is scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.
