The Russian Ministry of Defense has applauded recent revelations from the United States about the presence of "biolaboratories funded and covertly operated" by the previous Biden Administration in Ukrainian territory, allegedly intended for the development of chemical and biological weapons, despite the fact that United Nations specialists already denied these accusations at the time.
The accusation was made public on June 12 through the still-Director of National Intelligence of the United States, Tulsi Gabbard, who is using her last days in the position (she leaves this Friday, citing her husband's health problems) to disseminate documentation related, among other matters, to the biolaboratories located in Ukraine.
For Moscow, "the published documents constitute further proof of the Kyiv regime's violation of its obligations under the Convention and we will seek clarification of the situation in the relevant international forums," according to a statement released this Friday by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Russian government regrets the "false accusations" that, it assures, it has received during this period for "spreading disinformation and carrying out hybrid operations with the aim of deceiving the international community," reproaches it describes as absolutely unfounded.
"The Russian Ministry of Defense will continue to analyze the information received," concludes the official note from the military portfolio.
Following the publication of the documents by Gabbard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine again categorically denied the existence of these "biolaboratories."
"Ukraine has never participated in activities related to the development, production, or storage of biological weapons" and "has systematically complied with its international obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention," the Ukrainian department stressed in a statement made public the following day.
