The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has invited the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, to spend more time in Mexico after the controversial visit of the Spanish leader, in a context of diplomatic tensions and exchanges of statements between both political figures.
Sheinbaum has stated that Ayuso's stay in the country "served to open the debate" in Spain on the Conquest and the figure of Hernán Cortés, and has defended that a longer stay would allow for a better understanding of Mexican reality. In this regard, she has pointed out that the Spanish leader "would learn a lot" if she remained longer in the country.

The Mexican president has also questioned the tone of the statements made by the Madrid leader during her visit and has insisted that Mexico is a country with great cultural and social richness. According to her words, Ayuso's experience in Mexican territory would have allowed for the visibility of historical and cultural aspects that, in her opinion, are usually absent in public debate in Spain.
In her statements, Sheinbaum has emphasized that the visit has contributed to reactivating the discussion about the Conquest, stating that it allowed for talk about "Hernán Cortés, the invasion, the indigenous peoples, and the cultural greatness of Mexico".
The leader has also defended freedom of expression within the framework of the controversy, assuring that the exchange of opinions is part of the democratic debate between countries with complex historical relations.
