The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, is scheduled to travel to Panama this Wednesday to attend a meeting of the U.S. military coalition against the cartels. During his stay, a meeting with the Panamanian president, José Raúl Mulino, as well as with "high officials" from Colombia is also planned.
The Department of Defense has reported the trip in a brief official note, detailing that Hegseth will deliver a speech at the American Coalition Against the Cartels (A3C) Forum, an initiative promoted by Washington and known as Shield of the Americas.
The statement does not specify the duration of the visit to the Central American country, although it does confirm in the agenda a meeting with the head of the Panamanian State and a "bilateral meeting with high officials from Colombia."
