The Houthi rebels of Yemen reported this Thursday a new attack against a refinery of the company Saudi Aramco in Jizan, a strategic port located in the southwest of Saudi Arabia, less than a week after hitting these same facilities near the border with Yemen and in a context of increasing military tension in the area.
"The Yemeni Armed Forces attacked an Aramco refinery in the Jizan region with two drones, and the attack was precise," sources cited by the news agency SABA, linked to the Houthi insurgency, have pointed out.
According to these sources, the operation constitutes a direct response to the "violation of Yemeni sovereignty" by Riyadh in the governorates of Saada and Hajjah, located in the northwest of the country.
The attack takes place amid an escalation of hostilities within Yemen, a dynamic that the internationally recognized government —and supported by Saudi Arabia— attributes to the Houthis and factions allied with this movement.
