Iran's Revolutionary Guard has stated this Tuesday that it is ready to give "a decisive response" to the United States after the "ceasefire violation" that Tehran attributes to the attacks carried out in the last few hours against the south of the Asian country by US forces.
The commander of the Revolutionary Guard's Aerospace Force, Majid Musavi, pointed out in a message disseminated on social networks that "the treacherous enemy has once again committed a ceasefire violation during negotiations," for which his forces "are prepared for a swift and decisive response and the implementation of the commander-in-chief's measures."
Musavi also evoked the late supreme Iranian leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei -- assassinated on February 28 in the early stages of the offensive launched by surprise by the United States and Israel against the country -- who "said that negotiating with the enemy is a pure loss."
Hours before these statements, the Revolutionary Guard had accused the United States of violating its airspace and stressed that it reserves "the right to respond," while reporting that its anti-aircraft defense systems had shot down an MQ-9 drone belonging to the US Army.
Subsequently, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the "flagrant violation of the ceasefire" by the United States and held Washington responsible for "continuing its illegal and unjustified actions" since the truce agreed on April 8, "especially with numerous cases of maritime piracy against Iranian commercial vessels during the last 48 hours."
For his part, the spokesman for the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Captain Tim Hawkins, stated in declarations to Europa Press that the US attacks were carried out "in self-defense" with the aim of "protecting" US troops "from the threats posed by Iranian forces," specifying that the targets were vessels and missile launch platforms located in southern Iran.
