The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has assured this Monday that "in the next two weeks" Washington will announce its "total victory" over Iran, amid the escalation of tension in the Middle East that threatens the fragile ceasefire sealed last April.

"We have been a very strong team and I believe we are winning that battle," the Republican leader defended during a telephone rally in support of Senator Lindsey Graham in the primaries, where he predicted that it will be "in the next two weeks" when the United States declares "total victory."

In his speech, the president stressed that "it will be a total victory" that "will happen very soon" and that, as he highlighted, will cause "oil prices to plummet." He then reiterated, as on other occasions when referring to Iran, that the Islamic Republic "cannot have a nuclear weapon" because, he insisted, "the destruction it would cause is enormous."

That same Monday, Trump has called on Israel and Iran to "immediately" cease the cross-border attacks recorded in the last few hours, which have intensified the conflict. This request comes after having unsuccessfully asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to respond to the Iranian missile launch on Sunday night.
