The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has appointed this Wednesday his acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche, as the highest representative of the U.S. delegation that will attend the inauguration of the new head of the Executive of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, scheduled for this Friday in the city of Cali.
The White House made it public through a statement detailing that Blanche will be accompanied by a delegation made up of eight other high-ranking officials from the U.S. Administration.
Among the members of the delegation are the Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Hugo Guevara; the Chairman of the National Security Subcommittee of the House of Representatives of the United States, Mario Díaz-Balart; the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Sara Carter, and the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States, Terrance C.Cole.
Completing the list are the National Security Advisor to the Vice President, Cliff Sims; the Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the State Department, Viviana Bovo; the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Western Hemisphere Security Affairs, Joseph Humire, and the Chief of International Operations of the Department of Justice, Kristopher Jarvis.
The inauguration ceremony of Abelardo de la Espriella, whose candidacy was supported by Trump, will be held at the USC Arena of the University of Santiago de Cali.
King Felipe VI of Spain and the presidents of Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Costa Rica, and Panama, Javier Milei, Daniel Noboa, Santiago Peña, Laura Fernández, and José Raúl Mulino, respectively, have confirmed their attendance.
