The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has warned this Wednesday that he will order air strikes against Iran again if an agreement with its authorities is not reached within 60 days after the signing of the memorandum of understanding.
"It is a memorandum of understanding. If it is not signed in 60 days, no problem. We will bomb again. I don't want to do it because it is very good, but perhaps we will have to do it because we will never allow them to have a nuclear weapon," he stated at a press conference from the French town of Évian, where a summit of G7 leaders is taking place this week.
The US leader has once again stressed that, in his opinion, the Iranian government has agreed to abandon the possession and development of atomic weapons, something that, he said, "is seen very clearly in the agreement" recently reached. "If they don't comply, we will probably bomb them again until they comply," he insisted, while describing himself as the "toughest" president on the Asian country in history.
Iranian authorities "will work closely with us to remove the so-called enriched material that is found deep in the earth," said the US leader, who has again threatened to attack "with Patriot missiles" against Iran "if they try to access" uranium.
Both sides have confirmed that a formal ceremony for the signing of the memorandum of understanding will take place in Switzerland on Friday. From that moment on, a 60-day period will be opened to outline the terms of a definitive peace agreement, in a context marked by Iran's warnings about Israel's attacks against Lebanon, which Tehran considers a violation of what was agreed with Washington.
