At least two people have lost their lives as a consequence of the intense storms affecting France, which has led the country's authorities to activate multiple warnings across almost the entire national territory. Among them was an orange warning that has been lifted in the last few hours.
According to information disseminated by the broadcaster Radio France, one of the victims is a woman who was crushed by a tree in Saint-Victurnien, in the department of Haute-Vienne, in the central area of the country. The second victim is a man who died as a result of a fire in his shop after it was struck by lightning.
The meteorological service Météo-France has recently canceled an orange alert for thunderstorms, while reports of material damage caused by hail the size of tennis balls in the Ardèche region continue.
The storms have also caused numerous power outages and disruptions in rail traffic between Toulouse and the capital, Paris, with delays of several hours due to the blocking of the tracks by fallen trees.
