The official death toll from the double earthquake that shook Venezuela at the end of June has risen above 4,800 dead, as reported this Wednesday by Venezuelan authorities.
The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, has detailed on his social networks that 4,829 people have died as a consequence of the 7.5 and 7.2 earthquakes that hit the central Venezuelan coast on June 24, while the number of injured remains at 16,740.
The number of rescued people also remains unchanged, continuing at 6,472, according to the latest official report. At the same time, authorities estimate that 128,324 families have been assisted after the earthquakes and their approximately 1,290 aftershocks.
Authorities have also indicated that there are still 2,408 international rescuers on the ground, a slightly lower figure than the 2,471 reported this Tuesday, although the number of volunteers has increased to 31,315.
