The spokesperson of the PSOE in Congress, Patxi López, has attacked the initiative of the Popular Party to withdraw nationality from immigrants who have committed serious crimes, a measure that, in his opinion, is part of "the race they have embarked on to be more ultra than Vox."

"In this race they have embarked on with Vox to be more ultra than Vox, I don't know if we are going to end up hearing them talk about remigration," López pointed out this Tuesday during the press conference following the Board of Spokespersons of Congress, where he questioned the PP's shift in migration policy.

The socialist leader emphasized that, instead of competing with the far right, the PP should take German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as a reference and "say that remigration is directly Nazism, it is directly racism."

In response to the PP's proposal, López has defended that "those who commit crimes" must go "before the judge and to prison." "All the rigor of the law, of the courts, those who are criminals, whether they are migrants or Spaniards," he insisted, stressing that the response must be judicial and not based on withdrawing nationality.
