The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, defended this Monday that the European Union must protect the southern border in Ceuta with the same determination with which it supports the eastern border in Ukraine. At the same time, he reproached the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, for claiming that the Moroccan authorities acted "intelligently" in managing the massive entry of migrants at the end of July when, he insisted, the "territorial integrity" of Spain has been "violated."

"Is acting intelligently facilitating the entry of 80,000 people from Morocco into Ceuta? Is that being intelligent? It is evident that Morocco defends Morocco, the PP defends Spain, and the president of the Government and the Socialist Party do not know who they defend," Feijóo indicated in statements to the media.

In this sense, the opposition leader emphasized that stating that "the Moroccan security forces have acted intelligently by allowing 80,000 people to enter" and "violating the territorial integrity" of the neighboring country constitutes, in his opinion, "a lack of responsibility" and "an indolence unworthy of a European prime minister."

He made these statements at a press conference in Madrid alongside the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, after touring the public housing promotion for rent Cañaveral 7.

Requesting Europe to "defend its southern border"

Regarding the visit he will make on Monday, September 21, to Ceuta --the fourth in about 50 days--, Feijóo announced that he will demand from the community institutions that they "defend their southern border" because, he said, "it is as important as the eastern border," reminding that "all the countries of the European Union" support that country "despite the fact that it is not part of the European Union."

"However, when there is territory that is part of the European Union, and which is therefore European territory, we must tell our colleagues, regardless of their ideological stance, that we must defend the territorial integrity of Europe," he stated.

Feijóo recalled that the PPE is the "first party in Europe" and highlighted that the trip to Ceuta by its president, Manfred Weber, underscores "a commitment of the party" to the defense of European territorial integrity.

In his opinion, any party with representation in the European Parliament should move to Ceuta and Melilla to make it clear that "European borders are defended," that "they are not violable," and that "the sovereignty of the European Union is not subject to negotiation."

"It makes no sense for a party with parliamentary representation in the European Union not to defend the territorial integrity of Europe. It is failing to meet its obligations to its voters," warned the leader of the PP.

The judge "has the right to maintain the secrecy of the proceedings"

Feijóo has also criticized Sánchez for the "legal nonsense" that, according to him, he expressed by demanding from Judge María Tardón information about the investigations into the mass entry into Ceuta, something that, in his view, demonstrates "not knowing Spanish procedural law," given that the magistrate "has the right to maintain the secrecy of the proceedings."

"He does not know that until the secrecy of the proceedings is lifted, the judge does not have to share information," he pointed out, after last night on the program 'El Intermedio,' the president described as "surprising" that the report on the mass entry of migrants was not shared with the Executive by court order as it concerns "information about national security."

Feijóo emphasized that the data requested by the judge "is asked of her Government." "Does it mean that the president of the Government does not know the information from the CNI? Does he not know the information from the Immigration Office? The president of the Government thinks that Spaniards are not intelligent," he stated, adding that Sánchez "thinks that Spaniards are not intelligent" and "disdains" them.

"Vivas has crushed Sánchez" in audience

Finally, he contrasted the audiences achieved by Juan Jesús Vivas and Pedro Sánchez in the interviews they both gave this Monday on television, on 'El Hormiguero' (Antena 3) and 'El Intermedio' (LaSexta), respectively. He pointed out that the Ceuta president "has beaten" him because "the agony" of the head of the Executive "no longer engages the Spanish audience" but rather "bores and dulls it."

"President Vivas has crushed President Sánchez because people can already distinguish the truth from the lie and can tell when we have a statesman in front of us versus someone who remains in the Government when the Government is already finished," he emphasized.
