The National Police has dismantled a presumed criminal organization specialized in introducing large quantities of synthetic drugs into Ibiza by transporting suitcases loaded with them from the Netherlands. Two people have been arrested in the operation and several kilos of narcotic substances have been seized in both Ibiza and Rotterdam.
According to the Police, two searches have been carried out: one in Ibiza, where 50 kilos of ketamine and 22 kilos of ecstasy were seized, and another in Rotterdam (Netherlands), where 100 kilos of MDMA and 1,100 kilograms of chemical precursors were seized.
The investigations made it possible to identify a man who was in charge of the logistics for bringing drugs into the island. In the initial proceedings, the officers verified that this individual made frequent trips from different airports in the Netherlands to Ibiza, returning to Dutch territory a few days later.
These repeated trips made investigators suspect his possible involvement in a network dedicated to the international trafficking of synthetic drugs.
Police Surveillance and Search of the Ibiza Residence
Based on these indications, the officers established a surveillance operation on the suspect, managing to locate the residence he used temporarily in Ibiza. There they observed him bringing several suitcases into the dwelling, until he was intercepted while carrying a suitcase containing around 50 kilograms of ketamine.
Subsequently, and after obtaining the necessary judicial authorization, the dwelling used by the detainee was entered and searched, where another suitcase was found with approximately 22 kilograms of ecstasy tablets, in addition to 1,500 euros in cash. After being brought before the judicial authorities, his immediate imprisonment was ordered.
In parallel, and in coordination with the Dutch authorities, an operation was developed in the Netherlands that represented a key advance in the investigation into the criminal organization linked to the events in Ibiza, as the National Police emphasizes.
In this action, a warehouse located in the city of Rotterdam, related to the person arrested in Ibiza, was searched, where approximately 100 kilograms of MDMA and 1,100 kilograms of chemical precursors were seized, with which more than 600 additional kilograms of this substance could have been manufactured.
Likewise, the authorities of the Netherlands arrested one of the main ringleaders of the investigated organization, who was also sent to prison. The investigation remains open and new arrests or police actions against this criminal network are not ruled out.
