Origin and meaning of the Gold Medal of the Regional Assembly

The Gold Medal of the Regional Assembly of Murcia was created in 2022, in accordance with the Regulations on Honors and Distinctions of the Murcian Parliamentary Chamber (BOAR number 117, of May 5, 2022).

It is the highest-ranking honorary distinction of the Chamber, which provides for its award to natural or legal persons who, due to their personal merits or institutional trajectory, have contributed significantly to the promotion of democratic values, to the projection of the Region of Murcia, or to the improvement of coexistence and the well-being of its inhabitants.

In June 2022, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Statute of Autonomy of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the Regional Assembly awarded its Gold Medal to former Presidents of the Parliamentary Chamber Carlos Collado, Manuel Tera Bueno, Miguel Navarro Molina (posthumously), José Plana Plana, Francisco Celdrán Vidal and Rosa Peñalver Pérez, as well as to Encarnación Fernández de Simón Bermejo, in recognition of her 25 years as a lawyer-secretary general of the Regional Assembly.

After her visit to the Regional Assembly, Leonor de Borbón will travel to the municipality of San Javier, home of the General Air and Space Academy (AGA), where she will receive the Gold Medal of the Town and will be named Adoptive Daughter of the same in an institutional ceremony at the riverside City Hall.

Subsequently, the heiress to the throne will move to the Palace of San Esteban, in Murcia, where the president of the Community will present her with the Gold Medal of the Region.
