The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, the Canarian Ángel Víctor Torres, has warned that, if the right were to come to power, Spain would backtrack on the advances achieved in recent years and that the autonomous state would "drown" and would be left "without possibility of future."
In statements made this Saturday to the media, he/she pointed out that the PP is the party that does not trust the model of autonomies, that when it governs "turns its back" on the autonomous communities and that it votes against measures for a better distribution and situation of unaccompanied migrant minors.
"And if I were to govern this country, I say it with absolute sadness, in everything we have achieved of greater self-government, of defense of the statute of autonomy, of response to the migratory phenomenon or of advances in the possibilities that each territory has, we would regress," he/she affirmed.
Torres contrasted this stance with that of the current Government of Spain, which he defined as, "without a doubt", the one that most supports the autonomous state, having promoted more transfers and handovers to the autonomous communities than during the years in which Mariano Rajoy was at the head of the Executive.
"That is to say, with the PP and with Vox, undoubtedly, the autonomous state drowns and is left without possibility of future. When they govern there is nothing that can be transferred to the territories, especially to the Canary Islands. How many transfers or handovers were there with Rajoy for the Government of the Canary Islands?. Zero", he stated.
