The Vox deputy in the General Board, Javier Jové, has held the Minister of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sport of the Asturian Government, Vanessa Gutiérrez, responsible for having caused the resignation of the director of Valgrande-Pajares, Javier Martínez, after months of "confrontation and pressure" that, according to his complaint, would have seriously affected his personal and professional situation.
According to Jové, the departure of the head of the ski resort is the culmination of a maneuver that the regional Executive would have been forging for a long period. "The minister has achieved what she was looking for. After unleashing a campaign of harassment, a real witch hunt against the director of Valgrande-Pajares, she has finally managed that, exhausted by the situation, he has thrown in the towel and submitted his resignation," he stated.
The Vox representative recalled that Javier Martínez himself had publicly stated that the Administration was preventing him from carrying out his work normally, and that the conflict intensified after his intervention in the General Board, where he detailed the shortcomings and problems that the winter resort was suffering from.
For Jové, the director's departure occurs at a particularly inopportune moment for Valgrande-Pajares, a facility that, in his opinion, is going through an "especially delicate" situation after one of the "most disappointing" seasons in recent years.
"What worries us most is that the resort is now headless and deprived of one of its main assets precisely after a disastrous season, with very poor results despite the abundance of snow, with nearly 50% of the lifts out of order and more than half of the snow cannons out of service," he pointed out.
From Vox, they maintain that the Government of the Principality is trying to divert attention and blame those who made the resort's deficiencies public, instead of assuming their own management failures.
"Instead of listening to those who warned of deficiencies and demanded solutions, they have opted to point to the messenger. The result is that today, the one leaving the station is not the one who made the wrong political decisions, but the one who had been denouncing the lack of resources and the shortcomings of the facilities for some time," stated Jové. The deputy added that the resignation many users and workers expected was not that of the director. "The political responsibilities are much higher up. Those who should explain themselves are the Director General of Sports and the minister herself," he stressed.
