Spain is one victory away from playing in the 2026 World Cup final. Luis de la Fuente's team must first overcome France and then await the winner of England-Argentina to know their opponent for the title.
The Spain-France match will be played on Tuesday, July 14, at 9:00 PM, peninsular time, at Dallas Stadium. England and Argentina will play the second semifinal a day later, also at 9:00 PM, in Atlanta.
Who would Spain play in the World Cup final
If Spain beats France, their opponent in the final will be England or Argentina.
Both teams will face each other on Wednesday, July 15, at Atlanta Stadium. England secured their qualification after defeating Norway 2-1 in extra time, while Argentina overcame Switzerland 3-1 after 120 minutes.
The identity of the second finalist will be known about 24 hours after the Spain-France match. Spain, if they qualify, will be able to prepare for the final knowing which of the two teams will be on the other side of the bracket.
When and where the Spain-France match is played
The semifinal between Spain and France will be played on Tuesday, July 14, at 9:00 PM.
The venue will be Dallas Stadium, in Arlington, Texas. The match can be watched for free in Spain on La 1 and RTVE Play. DAZN also includes the semifinal in its World Cup coverage.
Spain reached this round after defeating Belgium 2-1. Mikel Merino scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute, preventing the match from going to extra time. France, for their part, eliminated Morocco 2-0.
England or Argentina: the two possible opponents
England reaches the semifinals after a particularly demanding tie against Norway. Jude Bellingham scored both English goals in a victory decided in extra time.
Argentina also needed extra time. Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring against Switzerland, Dan Ndoye equalized, and Julián Álvarez broke the tie in the 112th minute. Lautaro Martínez sealed the 3-1 victory.
The Argentine team is defending the title won in Qatar and seeks to become the first team to win two consecutive World Cups since Brazil in 1962. England is trying to return to the final for the first time since their triumph in 1966.
When the 2026 World Cup final is played
The final will be held on Sunday, July 19, at New York New Jersey Stadium, located in East Rutherford.
The match will begin at 3:00 PM on the US East Coast, 9:00 PM peninsular time in Spain.
By calendar order, the winner of Spain-France will reach the final with one more day of rest than the winner of England-Argentina. The first semifinal is played on Tuesday and the second on Wednesday.
What happens if Spain loses to France
A defeat against France would leave Spain out of the fight for the title, but it would not mean the immediate end of their World Cup.
The two teams eliminated in the semifinals will play the third-place match on Saturday, July 18, at Miami Stadium. The final will be played the following day in New York-New Jersey.
