Barcelona celebrates this Sunday, March 15, a new edition of its marathon, one of the city's most popular sporting events.

Thousands of runners will cover 42.195 kilometers through the main avenues and emblematic areas of the Catalan capital, in a circuit that starts in the city center and finishes in the vicinity of the Arc de Triomf.

The official departure is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

Where begins and where ends the Barcelona Marathon

  • The race will start on Passeig de Gràcia, in the section between Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Plaça de Catalunya.
  • The finish line will be located on Passeig de Lluís Companys, next to the Arc de Triomf, one of the classic arrival points of the event.

Between both points, the circuit crosses different districts of the city and connects the center with areas of the coast and of the district of Sant Martí.

Streets and areas through which the Barcelona Marathon 2026 passes

The route includes some of the city's best-known thoroughfares and runs along several main avenues.
Among the streets and areas through which the race passes are:

  • Carrer de València
  • Avinguda Diagonal
  • Carrer d’Aragó
  • Carrer de Muntaner
  • Passeig de Sant Joan
  • Rambla del Poblenou
  • Carrer de la Marina

The circuit also passes through coastal areas and the seafront promenades, such as the Passeig Marítim de la Nova Icària and the Passeig Marítim del Bogatell.

Marathon Schedule and duration of the route

The test starts at 8:30 a.m. and will last throughout the morning.

The passage of the runners will require maintaining traffic restrictions on the circuit approximately between 7:30 and 15:30 hours, until the last participant has passed.

As the group of runners advances along the route, some roads will progressively reopen.
