A part of one of the towers of Escalona castle, in the province of Toledo, collapsed this Saturday morning, according to neighbors and visitors who were in the area at the time of the incident.
At the moment the causes of the detachment are unknown, although consulted sources have confirmed that no injuries have been registered. The collapse has caused material damages to at least five vehicles that were parked in the vicinity of the monument, although their owners have been able to remove them later as they did not present serious mechanical problems.

The emergency services received the alert around 10:30 hours, after several witnesses alerted that a part of the tower's structure was beginning to detach.
To the place moved Civil Guard agents, along with municipal technicians and members of the local corporation, with the objective of evaluating the damages and guaranteeing the security in the surroundings of the castle.
The intervention teams proceeded to remove the debris from the collapse using heavy machinery, while the authorities decided to seal off the affected area to prevent risks to visitors.
The castle remains closed
As a preventive measure, Escalona castle has been closed to the public while the causes of the collapse are analyzed and the state of conservation of the rest of the structure is evaluated.
