The elections in Castilla y León mobilize this Sunday 2,097,768 voters, according to the official data of the electoral roll.
The figure represents 3,278 more voters than in the 2022 regional elections, which reflects a slight increase in the electorate in the community.
The vast majority of voters, 1,917,546 people, habitually reside in one of the municipalities of Castile and León.
More than 180,000 voters live outside of Spain
Of the total electoral census, 180,222 citizens reside abroad.
These electors are part of the census of absent residents and had until last Thursday to deposit their vote in the consulates or send it to their corresponding electoral district. The definitive scrutiny of these votes will be carried out by the Provincial Electoral Board within five days, once the ordinary count of the election day is completed.
More than 51,000 votes by mail
In these elections in Castilla y León, the number of votes cast by mail has also grown. Correos has admitted a total of 51,144 votes, which represents almost 7% more than in the regional elections held in February 2022.
This system allows voters to participate in the voting without physically going to the polling station during the day.
More than 80,000 young people vote for the first time
Among the more than two million voters called to the polls, 81,890 citizens vote for the first time, after having turned 18 since the previous regional elections.
