With 98.9% of the vote counted in the regional elections of Castilla y León, the PP advances towards a clear victory. These are the provisional results that indicate that Fernández Mañueco would win 2 seats (far from an absolute majority) compared to the previous elections, while that the PSOE would not only resist, but would obtain a good result, improving by two representatives as well. Vox would remain below 20% of the votes and would barely gain one more representative.

The Popular Party has won the elections in Castile and León, with a percentage that exceeds the best polling forecasts for the party led in this region by Alfonso Fernández Mañueco (33 procurators).

The socialists have also obtained good results, saving the furniture and even achieving more procurators (from 28 to 30). However, the party of Carlos Martínez only capitalizes two seats from the smallest formations and to his left, some of them absolutely amortized. And it does so after 39 years of hegemony of the Popular Party, and still without government options.

Vox deflates

On the part of Carlos Pollán (Vox), this political force has obtained results that are far from what they expected (14 procurators). Although they can be decisive for Alfonso Fernández Mañueco to be invested president of Castilla y León, the unexpected setback of the formation led by Santiago Abascal, strengthens the popular party with a better than expected result, and by far better than that achieved in number of procurators or deputies in Extremadura and Aragón.

Before knowing the reading of the first scrutiny data, popular sources already conveyed to the media that, the tracking polls they have managed in the last week appreciated that Vox's growth trend, almost reaching 25%, was deflating. They don't know -they affirm-, if due to the blockade that Vox has exercised over María Guardiola's investiture, or perhaps due to the internal crisis that this party has been dragging with the expulsions of Antelo and Ortega Smith.

To the left of the PSOE, neither IU nor Podemos would obtain parliamentary representation. Soria Ya loses two seats, which are the ones the socialists would have gained.

While they awaited the final result of the scrutiny, and at the doors of the hotel where the popular party celebrated their result, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco advanced that the Government of Castilla y León not has will be territory of Pedro Sánchez.

The popular ones, happy with a stronger center-right bloc

Popular sources assure that Feijóo already spoke through a video call with Mañueco, and that the two leaders "are happy".

The populars have already put forward a political reading, and that is, unlike 2022, where the PP and Vox added up to 52.2% of the total votes, now the sum rises to 55.2%, so that the right-wing bloc becomes stronger, with the populars being the ones who gain and subtract from Vox.

A reading that they translate to general elections, with a strong PP, a Vox that deflates, and a PSOE somewhat stronger, but without the capacity to add to its left.

The good result of the mayor of Soria

The strong presence of the main national leaders in this campaign already made foresee a complex scenario, with a national projection.

In these elections, the resistance of the PP, so many years in the Government of Castilla y León, has been measured. Also the growth of Vox, following a trend, and furthermore, the options of the Socialist Party in a hostile political framework, plagued by judicial cases ranging from the Koldo-Abalos case -with the rescue of Air Europa and the masks case-, going through the Plus Ultra case -which points to José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero- or, the cases before justice of the former Attorney General of the State, the case of the brother of the President of the Government or, that of his wife, Begoña Gómez.

However, the political consistency of Carlos Martínez, a politician not sanchista, mayor of Soria for several legislatures and with successive absolute majorities in this provincial capital, has been decisive so that the results obtained can no longer be compared with those of his party colleagues in Extremadura and Aragon, Miguel Ángel Gallardo and Pilar Alegría, respectively.

Even so, the political turnaround that the socialists desired could not be fulfilled. According to what Demócrata has learned, hours before the closing of the polling stations, Moncloa sources pointed to the “high expectations of the PSOE of CyL of being even the most voted party due to the avalanche of vote transfer from PP to Vox”.

Mañueco advances that he will speak with all the formations

With 98% of votes counted, the candidate of the popular party, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has appeared, celebrating the victory and reiterating that the PP has grown in CyL in percentages of votes, with 33 procurators. Furthermore, he highlighted that his party has doubled Vox in number of votes.

"The citizens have spoken clearly -he affirmed-, and it is that the citizens want the PP to govern, because our project has had the maximum support at the polls".

Mañueco has also pointed out that his campaign has been "a clean, serious campaign, that has had the response to a way of managing."

The acting president has also added that he is open to dialogue with all political forces, and that there will be a government presided over by the Popular Party.

In his speech he has thanked the help of president Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for having traveled all over Castilla y León, without leaving behind the collaboration of presidents José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy.

"I assume the responsibility of forming a government that the citizens of Castilla y León have entrusted to me", Mañueco declared, who, regarding governance pacts, made it clear that he rules out the PSOE: "A stage of dialogue, agreement, and pact opens, based on the PP's future project, because we have been the ones who have obtained the greatest support. The one we are not going to pact with is the PSOE. With sanchismo any agreement is impossible."

Tellado: "Every time ballot boxes are set up, the PP wins"

On the other hand, and from the PP headquarters, The general secretary of the popular party, Miguel Tellado, has also added that "every time the ballot boxes are set up in Spain, the PP wins" and remains as the only party capable of forming a government and the PSOE loses and is left without the option to govern.

He assures that the greatest proof of the PSOE's failure is that, “they feel comfortable being second-best and happy for not being third. We are even more comfortable and happy being winners”, he highlights.

Demands to put all efforts into fulfilling the mandate of the polls because “it is very clear that what the citizens of Castilla y León have voted for is a government led by the PP”

The socialist candidate offers himself to Mañueco

From Soria, the candidate of the Socialist Party, Carlos Martínez, with a good result for the interests of this formation, has congratulated the popular leader, but has also pointed out that he doesn't like hearing the same thing again, when he alludes "to a stability, which he doesn't have, because he doesn't have a comfortable majority."

Martínez has ventured that, he and Mañueco will see each other very soon, and shortly, because the popular candidate "neither has he yet knowledge nor solvency that he has a meager advantage".

"And I have made it easy for it -the socialist leader has indicated- for this firewall and to be a solid government alternative."

Abacal announces a change of course

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, assured this Sunday that his party will reach government agreements with the PP in Extremadura, Aragon and Castile and Leon, stressing that the negotiation will focus on “concrete measures” and not on “seats and positions” within the regional executives.

“Starting tomorrow, three Spanish regions urgently await a change of course, and they are going to have it, we can guarantee it, but do not talk to us and do not ask us about the seats, the government positions or political narratives,” Abascal stated in a brief appearance to assess the electoral results of Castilla y León, without media presence.

The Vox leader has reiterated that the main objective of his party involves first setting “concrete measures”, negotiating “measure by measure” and establishing “compliance deadlines” in order to guarantee that the vote of the Extremadurans, Aragonese and Castilian-Leonese “is respected”, in coherence with what they have been defending in recent weeks. In this regard, he has warned that Vox will be “implacable” in the defense of the general interest and of Spaniards.
