Participation exceeds 50% in most of the capitals of Castile and León

Valladolid leads the mobilization while Zamora registers the largest increase compared to 2022. The data is from the third update at 6:00 p.m.

Participation in the regional elections of Castile and León continues to grow throughout the day. At 18:00 hours, the majority of provincial capitals already exceeds 50% of voters, with increases in almost all territories compared to the 2022 elections.

Among the capitals, Valladolid leads participation with 56.3% of the census, followed by Palencia (53.6%)Burgos (52.5%) and Soria (52.3%), all of them above half of the electorate.

Also exceed 50% León (52.0%)Segovia (51.7%) and Salamanca (51.4%), while Zamora reaches 48.5%, being the only capital that still does not reach that threshold in this participation update.

Zamora leads the increase compared to 2022

In comparison with the regional elections held four years ago, turnout increases in most capitals, with Zamora leading the increase, where mobilization grows 2.2 percentage points.

Also register significant increases Palencia and Burgos, both with 1.4 points more than in 2022, while Soria increases one pointValladolid 0.8, and León and Salamanca 0.7 points.

For its part, Segovia barely grows two tenths, while Ávila is the only capital where participation decreases, with 51.9% of voters, half a point less than in the previous elections.

A day marked by the increase in participation

The data point to a mobilization slightly higher than that recorded in 2022, on an election day that will decide the composition of the Cortes of Castilla y León and the future autonomous Government.

The polling stations will remain open until 8:00 p.m., at which point the counting will begin for elections considered key for the political balance of the community in the next four years.
