Polling stations open in Castilla y León: more than two million voters called to the polls

Polling stations have opened at 9:00 a.m. this Sunday in Castilla y León, starting the voting day in the regional elections that will decide the composition of the Cortes for the next legislature. A total of 2,097,768 voters are called to participate in the elections to elect the 82 representatives of the regional Parliament, known as procuradores.

More than 180,000 voters reside abroad

Of the total electoral roll, 180,322 voters reside outside of Spain, according to official data. These electors are part of the census of absent residents and have been able to exercise their right to vote through the system enabled for citizens living abroad.

More than 97% of polling stations already constituted

According to the information provided by the electoral website of the Junta de Castilla y León, at 9:00 hours 97.6% of the 4,470 polling stations planned for this day were constituted.

For the moment, no polling station has been suspended, so voting is taking place normally throughout the community.

Mañueco starts as favorite according to the polls

The polls published before the start of election day place the current president of the Junta, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, as the favorite to renew the position.

The polls also indicate that the PSOE could remain as the second force, while Vox would experience strong growth, with estimates placing it above 20% of the votes.

The voting will remain open until 20.00 hours, moment in which the polling stations will close and the scrutiny will begin at the tables.
