The candidate for Podemos-Green Alliance for the presidency of the Junta de Castilla y León, Miguel Ángel Llamas, has exercised his right to vote this Sunday at the Claudio Moyano Institute of Zamora, within the framework of the regional elections being held today in the community.
Llamas goes to these elections with the objective of maintaining or expanding the representation obtained by his political space in the 2022 elections, when the joint candidacy of Unidas Podemos and Izquierda Unida achieved a shared seat in the Cortes of Castilla y León. On this occasion, Podemos and IU run separately, which introduces a new electoral scenario for the forces located to the left of the PSOE.
An election day after an incident in campaign
The vote of the Podemos-Green Alliance candidate also comes one day after publicly denouncing an aggression suffered during the day of reflection. Llamas stated through the social network X that an individual broke a window of his party's electoral booth in Santiago street in Valladolid, when he was inside with his son.
The candidate himself disseminated images of the broken glass and described the episode as “very serious”, announcing his intention to file a complaint about what happened.
Expectation regarding the electoral result
After weeks of campaigning, this Sunday's elections will define the new composition of the Cortes of Castilla y León and the balance of power between the different political blocs.
In this context, Llamas aspires to consolidate the presence of his party in the regional Parliament, in an election in which the fragmentation of the vote on the alternative left could be decisive for the final distribution of seats.
