Turnout in the Castilla y León elections exceeds 53% at 6:00 p.m. and remains more than one point above 2022

The elections in Castilla y León maintain a slightly higher turnout than that of the previous elections. At 6:00 p.m., the percentage of voters reaches 53.06% of the census, compared to the 51.62% registered at the same time in the 2022 elections, according to official data released by the Ministry of Interior

The election day in Castilla y León continues with a slightly greater mobilization than in the regional elections of 2022. The third official participation update, corresponding to 6:00 p.m., places the percentage of voters at 52.70%, which is 1.08 points more than four years ago.

In the elections held in 2022, turnout at that same time stood at 51.62%, so the increase registered this Sunday confirms a trend of greater mobilization during a good part of the election day.

The data consolidates the evolution registered in the two previous advances: at 11:30 hours participation was 12.63%, and at 14:00 hours it reached 36.97%.

Valladolid, Soria and Palencia register the highest participations

The analysis by provinces reflects differences in the voting pace in the third update of the day.
The provinces with the highest participation at 6:00 p.m. are:

  1. Valladolid: 56.39%
  2. Soria: 53.67%
  3. Palencia: 53.53%
  4. Segovia: 53.41%

In the rest of the provinces, participation stands at around 50%:

  • Burgos: 51.99%
  • Ávila: 51.38%
  • Salamanca: 51.21%
  • León: 50.91%
  • Zamora: 50.61%

León and Zamora register the largest increases compared to 2022

The comparison with the 2022 elections shows increases in participation in several provinces.

The biggest increases are recorded in:

  1. León: +2.37 points
  2. Zamora: +1.74 points
  3. Soria: +1.71 points
  4. Valladolid: +1.33 points
  5. Palencia: +1.13 points

On the contrary, Ávila is the only province that registers a slight drop compared to the previous elections.

More than two million voters called to vote

In these Castilla y León 2026 elections, more than two million citizens are called to vote, who must elect the 82 representatives of the autonomous Parliament, one more than in the previous legislature.
The result will determine the composition of the regional parliament and the political balance of the community for the next legislature.

Polling stations close at 8:00 PM

The polling stations will remain open until 20:00 hours. From that moment on, the counting of votes will begin, which will progressively allow to know the distribution of seats in the Cortes of Castilla y León.
