Participation in the regional elections of Castile and León has reached 67.89%, which represents an increase of 9.14 points compared to the 2022 elections, according to the first data from the official count. The increase in electoral mobilization also translates into a sharp drop in abstention, which stands at 32.10%, nine points less than in the previous call.
In absolute terms, 105,588 voters have already gone to the polls within the partial count analyzed, compared to 49,931 electors who have chosen not to participate. In comparison with the regional elections held four years ago, when participation was 58.75%, the current data confirms a significantly greater mobilization of the electorate.
Slight decrease in valid votes
The scrutiny data also show small variations in the distribution of the vote. The percentage of valid votes reaches 98.72%, which represents a slight drop of 0.18 points compared to 2022.
Within that bloc, 98.55% corresponds to votes directed at candidacies, while the blank vote stands at 1.44%, which represents an increase of 0.45 points compared to the previous elections.
Null votes slightly increase
Another of the variations detected in the scrutiny is the slight increase in null votes, which stand at 1.27% of the total, 0.18 points more than in 2022.
Although the increase is small, it confirms a slight upward trend in both blank votes and null votes, two indicators that are usually interpreted as forms of political expression distinct from direct support for candidacies.
Still initial scrutiny
The data corresponds to a still preliminary scrutiny, with 8.10% of the census counted and about 31% of the polling stations scrutinized, so the final figures could experience variations as the count progresses.
Even so, the first assessment of election day already points to a mobilization clearly superior to that registered in the 2022 regional elections, in an election that will decide the new composition of the Cortes of Castilla y León and the next Government of the community.
