Castilla y León is the autonomous community of Spain with the most municipalities: 2248 in total. Most of them have fewer than 1,000 inhabitants and not a few are those that barely exceed a few dozen residents. With last Sunday's regional elections, some of these small towns have gained some notoriety.

It is the case of Salcedillo (Palencia), which with 18 inhabitants presented a minimum electoral roll, and also that of Villán de Tordesillas (Valladolid), where what has granted it its 15 minutes of fame is what its neighbors have voted. With a census of 89 people and a participation of 83.18%, the political will of the villanenses has yielded the following result:

  • VOX: 47 votes — 52.8 %

  • PP: 28 votes — 31.5 %

  • SALF (The Party is Over): 4 votes — 4.5 %

  • FE de las JONS: 4 votes — 4.5 %

  • IU-MS-VQ: 2 votes — 2.2 %

  • PSOE: 2 votes — 2.2 %

  • MEV (Living Spain Movement): 1 vote — 1.1 %

In total, only 4 votes for the left amidst a broad majority of votes for the far-right and the ultra-right and 28 votes for the Popular Party. A village of very, very right-wing people, located 30 km from the city of Valladolid, very close to Tordesillas, which is part of the Tierra del Vino region, an area with an aging population and traditionally linked to viticulture and cereal agriculture.

Despite the fact that with so few electors two votes up or down can change percentages of vote, the political pattern of Villán de Tordesillas remains practically the same. In 2022, previous elections, Vox obtained 49 ballots, securing 53.26% of the votes.
